Barry Miller was retained by the City of Ames, Iowa to facilitate a joint workshop with the Ames City Council and Planning Commission in support of a Comprehensive Plan Update. His scope of work included an evaluation of the City’s 1997 Ames Land Use Policy Plan and other long-range planning documents. 

Barry delivered a presentation on best practices in comprehensive planning in Iowa and nationwide and outlined alternative approaches for structuring the Plan Update. These options addressed considerations such as community engagement strategies, data collection, plan mapping, and overall plan organization. The City Council used this information to provide direction to staff, formally initiating the Comprehensive Plan Update process.
